Live-action de Moana disappoints at box office
Disney's live-action "Moana" movie opens to US$ 95 million globally, missing box office targets and facing competition.

The live-action adaptation of Disney's "Moana" has had a disappointing debut, grossing only US$ 95 million worldwide in its opening weekend. This figure falls significantly short of the studio's projection of US$ 130-140 million and raises concerns, especially considering the film's production cost of around US$ 250 million.
The international box office contributed US$ 52 million, while the United States accounted for US$ 43 million of the total. This performance mirrors the struggles of the recent "Snow White" live-action remake, which also faced challenges despite a high investment.
The early underperformance of "Moana" contrasts with the success of other Disney live-action remakes based on older properties. The film also faces stiff competition from other animated sequels like "Toy Story 5" and "Minions and Monsters."
